The interesting and useful idioms---1

Today, we learned some idioms from a wonderful teacher Shoron and enjoyed her class. These idioms are interesting and useful for us. Now , I would like to share these idioms to you.

 What is the idiom meaning? It is the usage or vocabulary that is characteristic of a specific group of people; It is a manner of speaking that is natural to native speakers of a language;It is the style of a particular artist or school or movement; It is an expression whose meanings cannot be inferred from the meanings of the words that make it up.

 For example:
1. Touch base==Talk to someone for short time.
2.Between you and me==Something private
3.Got wind of==Find out information or secret
4. Let him in on it==Tell a secret
5.Open up==Be honest
6.Lend an ear==Listen to someone
7. Compare notes==Share opinions
8.Clam up==Refuse to talk
9. Get though to someone==Reach someone by phone
10.Bite your tongue==Continue to talk about something that
11.In the loop==Include in shared information
